Why True Blue?

On the first Saturday of December 2016, Chef Bobby sat at his scrap paper filled dining room table. He had various names for the restaurant and butcher shop that he wanted to open, but none of them were the perfect fit.

While amongst his scrap paper he asked himself, “What do I want my customers to think when they come to me?”

His answer was trustworthy.

With this newfound realization, he Googled “trustworthy” to get the true definition of the word and he was brought to the phrase “True Blue”.

Chef Bobby discovered that “True Blue” was a slang term from 16th century Coventry England. During that time, people had figured out how to create vibrant colors in paint, but not in clothes. As a result, garments continued to fade after washing. Then, a dye company came up with a new color process to make blue dye stay! Fashionistas walked around town asking one another if their clothes were “True Blue”. If they were, that meant they were the real deal or trustworthy.

As Chef Bobby did more research, he found out that blue butcher aprons became iconic in Europe because the blue dye was able to withstand countless washes compared to other colors.

True Blue was exactly what Chef Bobby was looking for.
